SAGE is currently seeking Market Research Analyst candidates to work in our Washington, DC office. This role will be responsible for delivering research on broad trends within higher education and the publishing industry. Working closely with our global publishing strategy leads, the researcher will research changes in Higher Education teaching, learning and research, helping to manage the scope of projects, taking responsibility for research design, data collection and analysis, and writing research papers. The role will focus heavily on trends in the US market, but may also include wider research in EMEA and APAC. In addition to trends in teaching, learning and research the role will track competitor activities; and research into new types of products, services or tools in academic publishing.
The Market Research Analyst will work across our publishing divisions, helping to answer the research questions of the leads of our strategy in journals, college and digital library products. The role will help us to track market changes and to assess the market needs for new types of teaching or research materials, tools or services. The role will also have access to existing advisory boards that we use for market feedback. The Market Research Analyst will collect and store their own research, as well as SAGE’s data on the academic library market size and trends; publishing company reports and other research being delivered elsewhere to make this accessible. The market research analyst will communicate the outcomes of their research internally and externally at industry conferences, and support our strategy leads to communicate the research outcomes.
Qualifications include, but not limited to, the following:
- Masters degree or PhD from an accredited university
- Experience with social research through a degree program or experience doing market research commercially
- Demonstrated experience in the market research sector
- Solid understanding of the US Higher Education sector
- Reside in the Washington DC area or willingness to relocate
- Prior experience in a comparable role
- Experience working with senior levels of an executive management globally
- Work cohesively in a team environment across multiple departments in different time zones
