Job Details

nfpResearch delivers research, insights and expertise to help non-profits understand their audiences and make informed strategic decisions.
We use a range of research and consultancy skills to help charities find out exactly what they need to know. We speak to over 30,000 people a year about non-profits. With over 15 years of experience and vital trend data, we help charities collate, analyse and understand the opinions of their key audiences and integrate them into their work. We have already helped over 150 charities in a vast range of ways, including understanding supporter journeys, segmenting their audiences and evaluating and improving services for the people who need them.

Key topics we cover in our research and outputs include brand, communications, fundraising, reputation and trust. Many charities subscribe to our regular tracking research, which primarily focus on research with the general public and MPs. Some charities need more bespoke research, which would involve the team working closely with clients to help understand their needs and to design research projects to meet their objectives.

Purpose of the role

We are at an exciting time, in the process of expanding our business and streamlining our internal processes. The Data Officer is a newly created role that will report into our Research Lead, Sophie. The role will provide support primarily to the Public Audiences team, and on bespoke projects when required. In practice, the Data Officer will be helping the team on various project management-related tasks, liaising daily with our external suppliers, and working with databases and online dashboards.

Description of key responsibilities

Working primarily on the nfpPublics UK research, as well as on some of our other tracking research

• Processing survey data, quality-checking, cleaning and maintaining databases for our various Monitor projects
• Working on monthly client dashboards: updating and running scripts, fixing issues that may arise and ensuring everything runs smoothly
• Working on various project management tasks of the research cycle and liaising with external suppliers to ensure effective and timely delivery outputs
• Support Account Managers with client data requests when they arise, including exporting data tables and running additional data analysis as required

Who we are looking for:

This position would be ideally suited to a graduate or someone early in their career with some previous quantitative research experience, in a market research or similar position, who wants to gain knowledge and strengthen their skills in that field, and who has an interest in the not-for-profit sector.
Essential:

• Previous experience in quantitative research
• Strong numerical skills, being comfortable working with datasets; experience of statistical analysis and data processing (using Excel, SPSS, Q or similar software)
• Strong attention to detail
• Good time management and organisational skills
• Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Self-motivated, hardworking and proactive, able to deal with periods of heavy workload and to stay motivated during quieter periods
• Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a team, as well as autonomously, in particular when working remotely
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
Desirable:
• Experience using R, SPSS, Q, Javascript, and data visualisation tools such as Display or Tableau
• Experience of charities and not for profits, such as volunteering or experience of the public or voluntary sector
What nfpResearch delivers to you:
• Comprehensive training and support to make sure you quickly learn, grow and gain confidence in your role
• Support from the Research Lead and other senior members of the nfpResearch team
• Opportunities to work on the research we conduct for a whole range of charities in the UK and further afield and learn more about all aspects of the research cycle
• The chance to be an integral part of a small but thriving and dynamic company
• A varied and interesting role in the UK’s leading research consultancy working exclusively in the not-for-profit sector, providing the chance to gain considerable insight into the sector
• 25 days of paid holiday over the 12 months, and the company closes between Christmas and New Year

“This is a new role for nfpResearch and I am excited about the impact it will have. Having grown at nfpResearch in an interesting and meaningful data role, I am looking forward to sharing this knowledge and working closely with the successful candidate.”

Sophie, Research Lead
