Hybrid Working

Job Description

A rare opportunity for a Senior Research Manager or Associate Director with exceptional qualitative skills to join our specialist in-house practice at Barclays UK.

What is the role?

This is a hands-on role. You will be leading and personally delivering high profile ad-hoc qualitative projects. Uncovering insights from our 24 million customers, you’ll be right at the heart of new journey, product, and communications development. Using these insights you will be a catalyst for positive change, influencing decisions across the business. You’ll champion your insights through design and implementation and see your work making a tangible difference to the lives of our customers. As one of the world’s largest banks, you’ll work on a huge range of projects - it might be re-imagining the future of credit cards, defining the role of Barclays in the community, or testing a new green homes proposition etc. You will also get to build deep connections with a large variety of customers and clients including retail, business, vulnerable and premier. You’ll be working creatively and collaboratively within our large and diverse Insights and Design team. The team has a reputation for solving knotty business problems by delivering impactful insight.

What will you be doing?

• Spearheading design and delivering high-quality end-to-end qualitative research projects that are truly on a par with the best external research agencies

• Influencing hearts and minds of internal clients. Landing key insights and inspiring insight-led change

• Managing your own workload and that of any direct reports • Delivering with work within a strict budget, maintaining cost, and demonstrating excellent value for money

• Ensuring outputs are collegial by drawing on expertise from wider research and analytics teams

• Guaranteeing best practices, including keeping abreast of latest thinking, tools, and methodologies

• Helping shape the strategy for Barclays UK’s Qualitative Research team, raising the profile of the team and promoting the shared vision and passion for research

What skills and experience are required?

• Proven track record directing a range of qualitative projects, including complex and strategic research, new product/ proposition development, communications testing, and positioning

• Significant experience running moderated and unmoderated qualitative projects, both online and offline

• A growth mindset and a passion for learning and experimenting with new approaches

• Demonstrate good commercial acumen and strategic thinking, and an understanding of Barclays strategy and goals

• Ability to handle ambiguity; creating research approaches that deal with complex briefs effortlessly

• An impactful storyteller with excellent communication and interactive listening skills

• Courage for landing difficult messages and calling things out when they aren’t going right

• Great at building and managing effective client relationships through strong communication
