THREE HANDS

Our purpose at Three Hands is to create business value and social value, hand in hand. Established in 2002, we’re based in London and work all over the UK, and occasionally overseas. We’re made up of a core team of six people as well as a number of associate team members. We’re fuelled by a desire to create positive impact in society through the work that we do, whilst doing exemplary work for clients.

THREE HANDS INSIGHT

Three Hands Insight is a rapidly developing part of Three Hands that helps businesses improve life for vulnerable and underserved customers. We work with charities and the people they support – ‘lived experts’ – to help businesses learn about, and act upon, challenging customer circumstances. These might include financial vulnerability, digital exclusion, disability, mental health problems, dementia and bereavement – to name just a few.

THE ROLE

We are very excited to be creating a new role at Three Hands to help us develop and grow our insight and innovation practice. We feel there is tremendous potential to help more businesses, across more sectors, better understand the realities for customers at the sharp end of what life can throw at you, and innovate with empathy. To fulfil this potential, we need someone who can bring their expertise and experience from the world of insight and research, and combine it with our own unique experience of working with vulnerable groups, to help us take our work to the next level.

The role will have two distinct elements to it:

▪ Insight consultant, involving designing and running insight and research programmes and sessions;

▪ Client lead and business development, involving working closely with clients and growing the client base.

The role will therefore be ideal for someone with some experience in an insight/ research agency, or in-house, who would prefer to work in both of the above areas, rather than specialising in one or the other – someone who is looking to step up, take on a leadership role and at the same time, create social impact.

Particular responsibilities within each area of work will include:

1/ Account management and business development

▪ Working closely with clients to understand their needs and to design solutions

▪ Business development to grow the client base, with a particular objective to expand into new business sectors, such as Utilities and Telecoms

▪ Marketing and profile-raising for Three Hands Insight, for example by writing case studies and thought leadership pieces, and speaking at events

2/ Insight practitioner

▪ Planning insight sessions and workshops and, working alongside our dedicated Lived Experts Research Community Manager, ensuring the right charities and lived experts are ‘in the room’

▪ Designing workshop plans, including key questions and discussion points

▪ Writing survey questions

▪ Playing a facilitation role, alongside experienced Three Hands facilitators

▪ Analysing data and creating reports

▪ Working with a research platform (not yet in place, but a possibility for the future)

Company

We’re a small, purpose-driven insight agency committed to the Three Hands mantra of creating business value and social value, hand in hand.

Through tailored, participatory insight and innovation programmes we help businesses improve life for their vulnerable and underserved customers.

We do by getting the expertise of charities and the voices of ‘lived experts’ into businesses – so that businesses can do a better job for their customers.

Through our work at Three Hands we recognised that charities, and the people they support, can provide insights and ideas of huge value to businesses who want to better understand, and serve, any customer who is vulnerable or underserved – which could be any of us, at any time.

Every programme we work on has one or more charities, and a number of ‘lived experts’ – people who are at the sharp end of issues life can throw at you – at its heart. We’ve developed our network of lived experts through charities that we’ve worked with for many years.
