Covid-19 has exposed longstanding structural inequalities affecting London’s communities. Can you provide the analysis to help us address these and other social policy challenges?

The Social Policy Analysis team was set up five years ago to build a Social Evidence Base addressing the Mayor of London’s priorities on equalities, economic fairness, social integration, poverty and welfare reform. We need an experienced analyst to contribute to the team’s work in light of Covid-19 to provide high quality outputs to support London’s recovery from the pandemic and respond to the new challenges posed by the cost of living crisis.

You will work with the Principal Social Policy Analyst, alongside a wide range of GLA teams, to identify evidence needs and develop a varied set of outputs to fill these, using your experience of managing projects from conception to publication, including indicator frameworks, evidence summaries, analysis briefings and policy evaluation ensuring that future policies are based on robust evidence and measurement.

You will be customer-focused and have experience in providing specialist analysis and advice to policy teams implementing strategies in these areas. You will have excellent data analysis skills, with a track record of undertaking policy-focused analysis projects through to completion drawing on a diverse range of large and complex data sources.

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).  GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.

London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic candidates and disabled candidates who are currently underrepresented in our workforce.  For more information on the GLA’s approach to Diversity and Inclusion, please see Diversity and our values | London City Hall

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.  In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.

If you have a question about the role, please contact barry.fong@london.gov.uk or a question about the application process, please email glarecruitment@engageats.co.uk quoting reference GLA3461.
