Do you want to work on challenging international projects with some of the biggest names in the food industry, and also hit the beach before or after work?

HRA Global is in its twelfth year of business and following strong growth is looking for an organised, confident, entrepreneurial, and decisive critical thinker to join our senior leadership team of management, research and strategy consultants. We are looking for someone with industry experience and a professional qualification/MBA or equivalent. The role is hybrid working and based on the South Devon coast and the projects are truly international. The role is challenging and stretching, and the business was founded with a strong emphasis on work life balance and employee wellbeing encapsulated by our BCORP ethos.

ABOUT HRA GLOBAL

We are a global management and strategy consulting business with strong market research capabilities that specialises in food and drink space. We compete with top tier management consultancies and research agencies. We work up and down the value chain, from retail and foodservice to food manufacturers and processors through to agricultural producers and inputs. We have three core practices: Strategy, Market Research and Commercial consulting and this role would head up one of the practices, sitting on our Senior Leadership Team.

We are based in Babbacombe, South Devon with offices close to the beach. Clients have come from 30 countries at the last count with Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the USA being the most prevalent geographies.

Our culture is one of encouraging self-directed work, collaboration and high personal freedom and flexibility in how the work is done. Unlike many consultancies we don’t subscribe to ‘macho’ working hours or the need to display long hours of ‘face time’ in the office. What counts is using our time together to innovate, ideate, connect, plan and socialise, and we recognise some tasks are better delivered from home which can give staff more flexibility in their personal lives.

We have a flat structure and a desire to recruit and raise up talent, creating leaders all over the business.  This role will slot into a self-managed team of three senior leaders, broadly arranged along the lines of our key practices of strategy, market research and commercial.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Research Consultant will take the lead and manage client projects from the initial briefing session all the way through to a successful client debrief. The role is varied and centres round projects, leading by example to keep track of all timings, tasks and costs using our software such as Asana, Synergist and the Office suite, keeping the Head of Client Relationships and the wider team informed throughout and pulling in the MD where necessary.

For this role, Prince 2 qualification training will be given to equip the role holder with the latest project management tools and skillset.

Projects are allocated on the basis of experience, personal interest, and availability, They can be in Market Research (quant and qual), Commercial Consulting (e.g. M&A, due diligence, supply chain optimisation, securing co-manufacturing partners) and Strategic Consulting (e.g. Portfolio, Market Entry, Value Proposition, Go To Market). Whilst you will be the major driver of each project, you are not expected to be an expert at all the areas. The role is to understand the client need and pull the solution and talent together in a timely, enjoyable and efficient way and ensure that we deliver for clients.

This role oversees project processes that span the lifetime of the project and include:

proposal writing and costing/quoting project inception project budgeting (managing team time, third party cost and our PO process) Project planning (organising the team to achieve deliverables/milestones and managing projects via our Asana and Synergist software platforms) Independent contractor selection, management and payment approval if needed Invoice sign off and submission to finance team Organising After Action Reviews, reflecting on the project.  Day-to-day activities are often complex, dynamic, and varied as the job is essentially entrepreneurial in nature. Projects may vary in length and can involve micro teams of one project resource or a large team comprised of in-house staff and specialist Independent Consultants working across a couple of time zones. They can be based in one geography or across multiple international borders, especially the EU, USA and ANZ. Typically projects involve analysis to identify root causes of problems or key opportunities and recommending approaches that maximise value creation for the client.

You will also act as a project resource, supporting on other projects, where your expertise as a subject matter expert will help that PM deliver for clients, which is why a background in food manufacturing, consulting or research is helpful.
