LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

Want to do the best work of your life? Playing your part in making a big difference to the environment and communities we serve. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

Working as one of our Strategic Insight Leads on a long term contract until October 2023 you will be part of a friendly, open and inclusive team who are currently in the initial stages of the planning process building towards our next business plan submission to Ofwat, our economic regulator.   In this role you will be carrying out an extensive programme of customer research, to understand what service improvements our customers want, including tackling challenging topics like our long-term strategy, climate change and delivering net zero.

We will want you to help deliver a continuous programme of high quality market research, which will draw upon established and innovative techniques, to uncover new customer insight and underpin business decision making to help us service our customers better and help delivery one of life’s essentials.

Are you a Market Research professional with strong, proven experience of delivering insight to drive business decisions? Do you have an eye for detail and the ability to work independently to get the job done?

Well, if you have, read on.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE

We will look for you to be able to work collaboratively with our stakeholders and colleagues across our multiple teams to help design and embed our ongoing programme of market research and customer insight.  This information is going to underpin decision making about investment and customer priorities for both our Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy businesses.  You will also be charged with overseeing the delivery of research projects to ensure it is carried out to a sufficient standard to withstand executive and external scrutiny and you will also effectively manage our supply partners so they deliver high-quality outcomes to time and budget.

You will critically evaluate the outcome of research and other forms of customer insight to inform the development of our business plan and future service levels and present innovative and insightful analysis to both internal colleagues and external audiences.

In this varied role you will also help oversee ongoing research tools for Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy, such as the customer tracker and Tap Chat (our customer panel).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.

We want people who show up and roll their sleeves up. Restless spirits who are ready to be part of something bigger, who care, who really care... because when you really care, you’ll go above and beyond. When you really care you don’t just talk about it, you do more.

We will be looking for you to be able to bring with you experience from working in similar roles, ideally within the utility or regulatory environment.  If you have experience of working in a research agency that will be great as would experience of working with modern day GDPR rules which govern this work.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.

And when it comes to inclusion, we’re making sure we keep up the progress with our wonderful working groups – LGBTQ+, Women in Operations & STEM, Disability and Ethnicity; who help us do just that.

We do more, because we care.

HOW WE’LL REWARD AND CARE FOR YOU IN RETURN

It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too. We have a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training to ensure you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the community in which we live.  Here’s some of our favourites:
