The Role

We're looking for a Research & Insights Executive to join our Research and Insights team.

This is a new role that will support the Research and Insights team to generate applicable data and insight in all its forms, and ensure that the customer voice is represented in all initiatives.

That research will help The Drum to better understand its customers and shape its products and services in the future. It will also help to establish The Drum as a provider of insights in its own right.

The team use a variety of different research and techniques and sources, including quantitative and qualitative methodologies. It includes focus groups, surveys, traditional research and online panels. It outsources work, managing the process and uses internal survey tools.

Reporting to the Research and Insights Manager, the Research & Insights Executive will be critical to the delivery and development of our research and insights internally, externally, and in supporting our commercial offering and positioning.

It is an exciting role, and a time in The Drum’s growth where use of data for research for clients or editorial is of utmost importance.

Responsibilities

  • To work closely with the team to identify the best approach to answer insight-focused problems, be that using desk research or a more tailor-made research approach
  • To scope, manage and analyse tailor-made research solutions e.g. focus Groups, online quant surveys or Online Research Communities with the Director, ensuring that projects are run to timescale and budget, liaising with clients and suppliers
  • To understand all the internal and external syndicated and bespoke tools and insight resources The Drum has at its disposal and be able to use them to gather insights
  • To work with The Drum’s teams, across the globe, in the implementation of new and existing insights products, and to be aware of insight-driving data held within the digital ecosystem internally and externally
  • To support the production of pro-active thought pieces to provide wider context e.g. digital media industry, emerging technology trends
  • To instigate and build relationships with other internal teams and suppliers

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years working in an insight-related role with a media owner, client, other agency or market research company
  • A good working knowledge of qual and quant methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills - able to present complex ideas in a clear and engaging way and build relationships with stakeholders across the agency and beyond
  • A passion for media and advertising in general
  • Experience of commercial research would be an advantage
  • Ability to work on multiple project, delivering to deadlines
