This is a great opportunity to join the GBCC as a member of the Policy Team. The successful candidate will lead our recently formed Insight & Intelligence Services offering, offering high quality quantitative and qualitative business research services to public and private sector organisations. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the wider GBCC policy team in delivering and sharpening our ongoing research activity.

Due to COVID-19 this role will require a mix of remote and in-office working.

Responsibilities of the role

  • To lead the GBCC’s activity on the recently formed Insight & Intelligence Services offering – helping to securing commercial revenue from both public and private sector clients in order to deliver high quality quantitative and qualitative business research.
  • Data analysis and presentation – analysing and showcasing the final research to external clients
  • Analysing large volumes of complex data and creating an arresting narrative of business insight for a range of clients
  • Work closely with wider GBCC Policy & Patronage Team to supplement and improve existing researching methodologies on projects such as the GBCC Quarterly Business Report and West Midlands Quarterly Economic Snapshot amongst others

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in delivering end to end quantitative and qualitative research for either public or private sector bodies– creating and delivering surveys, survey analysis, data analysis, designing and chairing focus group sessions and conducting depth interviews
  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent
  • Strong written and communication skills are essentials – the successful candidate will be expected to chair focus groups, pitch for new business, produce high quality written reports for clients and make presentations to the wider business community
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines is essential
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills are essential
  • Experience in using data analysis tools such as SPSS, R, NVivo would be useful
  • Experience in securing commercial research projects would be desirable but not essential
  • An interest in the business and/or economic landscape in Greater Birmingham would be desirable
