HSE is an executive non-departmental public body, part of the civil service, and sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions. More detail can be found on our website: www.hse.gov.uk.

Great Britain’s health and safety record is the envy of much of the world. Central to this is protecting people in a proportionate and effective way, supporting both innovation and productivity.

HSE is responsible for regulating the health and safety of employees within 5.5m businesses. HSE inspects certain workplaces; however, most employees are reliant on the provision of guidance, communications, campaigns and working through stakeholders. As such, it’s critical that we have a clear understanding of those we seek to influence and support, and that we ensure that this understanding influences HSE decision making.

This year the government has set out plans for bringing about the biggest change in building safety for a generation. The HSE is at the centre of the plans, after it was announced in January that we would be establishing in shadow form a new Building Safety Regulator. The new regulator will be responsible for implementing and enforcing a more stringent regulatory regime for high-rise buildings, as well as providing wider and stronger oversight of safety and performance across all buildings and increasing the competence of those working on building safety.

As the Insight Manager, your role will focus on providing research, insight, analysis and internal consultancy to improve health and safety in workplaces and buildings. You will champion the application of external perspectives e.g. employers, workers and stakeholders. You will work closely with, and influence, HSE colleagues to deliver action-based findings that both shape and enhance HSE strategy, policy, services, operations and communications.
