Salary
£45,602 p.a.
Closing date

We are looking to recruit two Senior Research Advisers to work in the Pay and Contracts team in the Policy Directorate.

The roles include two main elements: to support pay and contract negotiations for doctors in all four nations of the UK, and to provide research advice and support to the individual BMA committees who represent those doctors. We are about to enter major negotiations for some key groups of doctors, so this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a better deal for our members.

You will need to be comfortable working with numbers to succeed in these roles, and in particular you will need good knowledge of creating, explaining, and interpreting Excel spreadsheet models. You will most likely have studied quantitative methods as part of your degree or professional qualification. Even though prior experience of NHS pay and contracts, or negotiations, is desirable, it is not essential and recent Master`s graduates or doctoral students are welcome to apply.

In return, you will receive:

  • 27 days holidays plus 1 company day and public holidays
  • double matching pension contributions (up to 12% of salary)
  • season ticket loan (up to £10,000) after completion of probationary period
  • additional flexible benefits.

For this role, we are open to discussing the possibility of flexible hours and/or remote working. While the post is offered on a permanent basis, we would be happy to discuss fixed-term and secondment-type arrangements. It may also be possible for the postholder to be based in one of our national offices (Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast), though the postholder must be willing and able to travel to London for specific meetings.

To apply please submit your CV and a cover letter via our website, explaining why you are interested in the role and how you meet the requirements of the role profile.

Closing date: Sunday 6th January 2020
