Longitude, majority owned by the Financial Times Group is one of the world’s leading providers of B2B thought leadership content and research, working with over 50 of the biggest global corporate brands. Whether global CEO outlook studies, insights into the latest trends in AI and digitalization, studies tracking the changing roles of various CXO leaders, or reports on issues ranging from sustainability through to ESG, Longitude helps deliver cutting-edge research-backed content to our clients.

Underpinning all of this work is our Research Operations function (Ops), led by the Research Operations Manager (ROM). At Longitude, the ROM helps prepare research-based proposals in response to various client RFPs, negotiate with and manage our fieldwork vendors, ensure high levels of data quality in our work, automate processes wherever possible, and more. While the core of the role is well defined within the business, there will be significant latitude and freedom to use your expertise to help continue improving how we operate today.

As our current ROM is relocating overseas, we’re now recruiting a replacement for this role. We are seeking for a highly experienced Ops expert who will take responsibility for four core things within Longitude:

1) Supporting our commercial team in winning new business. This includes:

  • Being the primary consultant and point of contact for our commercial team on research proposals;
  • Helping shape research specifications that deliver on our clients’ objectives, while still being commercially attractive for the business;
  • Sourcing, evaluating and challenging third-party fieldwork quotes from various vendors;
  • Supporting our wider delivery and commercial teams to ensure a balance between desired research specification, target timelines, client budget parameters, and the core editorial idea;
  • Helping onboard clients in a professional and engaging manner.

2) Taking responsibility for the quality of our research deliverables. This includes:

  • Overseeing and continuously improving our quality control processes;
  • Overseeing the scripting and programming of both CATI and CAWI surveys, via our third-party vendors;
  • Ensuring the delivery of accurate data tables and charts, in line with agreed data specifications;
  • Being the primary point of contact for our third-party research suppliers, building close working relationships.

3) Managing and overseeing the Ops function. This includes:

  • Overseeing our research P&L, ensuring that we deliver against our Ops KPIs and gross margin targets;
  • Evaluating new research partners and determining their fit for Longitude, developing and mapping vendors against a capability matrix. Includes site
  • trips to on/offshore vendors;
  • Managing and improving our research procurement, such as negotiating volume discounts with key long-term suppliers;
  • Provide strong systems experience, as we seek to continuously automate and optimize processes (current core applications today are based around
  • Decipher, G-Suite, Trello, and Slack);
  • Tracking and reporting on our live portfolio of research projects, from initial proposal stage through to final project completion;
  • Line managing your direct report, while providing support on career and skills development.

4) Ensuring Ops is at the leading edge of research technology. This includes:

  • Continuously look for new and better ways of sourcing, executing and delivering our research;
  • Testing and evaluate new technologies and/or suppliers that can increase the quality, speed and cost-effectiveness of our research;
  • Advise the commercial team on new Ops developments that can be used to help differentiate Longitude from our competition.

Please note – Due to the expected volume of applicants we may not be able to send you a personal response but only communicate with you if your application is successful.
