Job Details

This isn't a classic research role.

You'll be working on a huge change project for one of the biggest British government departments as a consultant rather than research partner (it's pretty much a client-side role). It was a joint pitch with a management consultancy for a huge change project and they need a communications quantitative expert to work with the consultancy and the department to consult on this huge project. Alongside this role, they have a dedicated team for this account across qual, quant, method specialists and analysts.

Historically, different projects have been pitched for by different agencies and management consultancies which has lead to inefficient data and information sharing, having a detrimental effect on policy making and government communications. This is the drive to change that. They have won the whole account now, meaning that you will get significant time and ability to make a change to how this government department uses research and data. It will be the blue print for other government departments as they become more evidence and data lead.

The successful candidate will need to be confident in taking responsibility for the creative development and testing for a key account. You will be experienced in handling multiple demands and working to tight deadlines, and in working with client and other agency teams to ensure the successful delivery of this programme of research.

This role will involve working as part of a senior account team for a key account, where you can make a real difference to the world we live in. You will be responsible for developing a trusted advisor role and ensuring all work undertaken as part of the programme of research is of the highest quality. Research will require the handling of sensitive issues often among vulnerable and niche audiences.

From you:

  • Are interested in behaviour change theory and practice.
  • Enjoy using your quantitative research skills to develop and test communications campaigns, ideally for government campaigns but transferring skills developed in the commercial sector is also an option.
  • Like being with and advising clients - from day to day issues on specific projects to more strategic opportunities providing a trusted advisor for the programme of research and working with others in the account team to share learnings and best practice.
  • Have experience leading a team.
