What does London’s future look like? How do we create communities in which Londoners want to live, work and play? What will make London the best big city in the world?

These are just some of the questions we’re working to answer at City Hall. But we can’t do this alone – a dialogue with Londoners is essential, and that’s where this job comes in.

Do you have relevant experience of delivering mixed-method social research? Are you passionate about using research to understand how people think, and using this to tackle big policy challenges? This is your chance to do that in an organisation with influence and high national profile.

You’ll work in City Hall’s Opinion Research team, working across policy teams, to bring new insight from Londoners to develop policies that meet Londoners needs. We are experts at integrating research, data analysis and consultation into meaningful policy conversations, to meet the challenges of population growth, economic and environmental change. We use a range of tools: from traditional forms of consultation and social research, to innovative digital engagement.

An excellent communicator, committed to building partnerships, you will be well-versed in delivering, commissioning and designing qualitative research projects, working with research agencies and policy officers to deliver high quality insight on citizens’ opinions, perceptions and behaviours. You will bring a creative approach to research design, using both innovative and conventional methodologies.

An understanding of quantitative research would also be an advantage, but we will consider candidates who are happy to develop and work in this area.

The GLA’s research team would like to invite anyone interested in this role to an open evening on Thursday 17 October 2019 at London’s City Hall to provide you with a chance to ask any questions you have about this opportunity, and hear a bit more about the role. If you are interested in attending this open evening, Please click here to register.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan, childcare voucher scheme and a career average pension scheme.

If you have a question about the role or the recruitment process then please contact a member of the recruitment team via email on glajobs@london.gov.uk quoting reference GLA676.

Application closing date: Sunday 27 October 2019 at 23:59 GMT.
