Job Introduction

This role will sit within the Audience Insight team in the BBC World Service. BBC World Service Group attracts a combined global weekly audience of 394mn delivering accurate impartial news and information that helps audiences take better decisions about critical issues. The World Service sits within this broader division, delivering journalism on TV, radio and online across the globe in 43 languages.

Role Responsibility

  • Management of tasks throughout the project lifecycle, including commissioning, daily project management, analysis of results and presentation of findings.
  • Supervise agencies in the delivery of successful projects for the BBC
  • Ability  to  turn  information  and  data  from  various  sources  into  a  meaningful  story  and  communicating  it  effectively  with  people  who  are  not  experts  in research.
  • Ability to move within multiple projects in a given day, managing stress and self, while retaining calmness and composure
  • Collaborate effectively with the rest of the Audiences team.
  • Support wider team with larger projects as part of a project team.
  • Experience of working with digital (web and/ or social) analytic tools would be beneficial.

Are you the right candidate?

  • A deep knowledge of quantitative research methodologies and rich experience of doing/commissioning quantitative research is critical. Research experience in international markets (especially Africa, Asia and Middle East) will be a plus for the role.
  • This role will require you to lead on / take independent charge of multi-disciplinary/ multi method research projects.
  • Demonstrable ability to synthesise data/ insights from different sources and arrive at strategic recommendations will be essential. 
  • Experience in using qualitative and other insights to inform creative / marketing briefs and/ or account planning experience will be highly desirable.  
  • You have a proven record of working on / leading projects which have had a demonstrable impact on an organisation
  • Great communication skills- and ability to work with rest of diverse World Service Audience Insight team
  • An interest in and appreciation of the cultures, peoples, and current affairs of other countries/ markets is desirable.
