Full Time

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to join the team running the NatCen Panel, a random probability web-CATI panel, unique in the UK, which serves the social research community.

You will have a background in quantitative social survey or market research, and will help to manage the NatCen Panel and the award-winning innovation activity that surrounds it. We are looking for someone who is passionate about research and the research process. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of the Panel and play a significant role in winning new business, developing client relationships and helping to grow NatCen’s offer in this area. In addition to running the Panel’s fast-paced operation, the work will include designing projects which might include questionnaire design, methodological experiments, quantitative analysis and report writing. You will need to liaise effectively with external collaborators and customers, as well as with other researchers and departments within NatCen. You will need to supervise more junior staff.

You will have a proven track record of working on high-quality quantitative research studies, helping to ensure their delivery to time and budget. You should have a good understanding of survey methodology, including in relation to web surveys. We are particularly interested in experience of running respondent panels, including in a market research context.

You will be flexible, a strong communicator and work well as part of a team. You will have (or will demonstrate your ability to develop) good relationships with customers and collaborators. The ability to work well under pressure and manage deadlines effectively is essential.

You will be enthusiastic about business generation, able to identify new business opportunities and contribute to, and lead on aspects of, writing tenders and grant applications.

You will also be keen to contribute to wider NatCen organisational priorities, for example by promoting NatCen’s work externally, developing methodological and/or policy expertise, and playing an active role in NatCen-wide initiatives.
