Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To manage projects for our clients and deliver on time, to specification and to budget. To manage and support team members and assist in the development of the wider team.

KEY DUTIES:

 Management

  • Lead the efficient running of the project and supervise and delegate to project teams on a job-by-job basis confidently, clearly and effectively.
  • Co-ordinate flexible and diverse teams.
  • Review Senior Research Executives and Research Executives outputs to ensure accuracy and to feedback improvements.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently through effective planning and prioritisation.
  • Manage project finances, keeping costs within budget and notifying project directors of potential problems.
  • Proactively look for ways to increase company efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.

Training and Development

  • Give ongoing, constructive feedback to line/ project reports to help them learn and develop their skills.
  • Facilitate the professional development of Senior Research Executives and Research Executives.

Client Focus

  • Be the first point of contact for the client on all agreed projects.
  • Proactively take control of day-to-day client interaction.
  • Develop and maintain a professional, pro-active relationship with clients.
  • Develop new business through the understanding and management of client needs.

Administration

  • Design high quality questionnaires and specifications.
  • Produce insightful, in-depth and publishable reports.
  • Produce thoughtful, creative and impactful presentations and deliver or co-deliver these.
  • Conduct interviewer briefings and monitor daily fieldwork.

Current Practice

  • Keep abreast of new developments and trends (technological, socio-political and economic) within IFF sectors and the research industry more widely.
  • Understand the wider context of research projects and proactively look to bring in this understanding to the work that we do.
  • Identify client/ business development opportunities and share these with the project directors.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience at Senior Research Executive level or equivalent. 
  • Good experience of managing projects from inception meetings to reporting.
  • Experience of managing or conducting quantitative research projects.

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:

  • Good understanding of a variety of research techniques and practices. 
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SPSS.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative research methodologies.
  • Highly numerate and literate.

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

  • Problem-solving skills - able to work on own initiative and anticipate future developments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and clients in a clear, convincing and organised manner.
  • Good leadership skills with a willingness to develop others.
