The World Service sits within this broader division, delivering journalism on TV, radio and online across the globe in 43 languages.

Main Responsibilities

The focus of this role will be balanced between digital and social measurement and research and insight, reflecting the importance of online platforms within the World Service, and our objective to become the world’s leading digital news provider.

As Audience Research Executive (Digital) within the World Services Audiences team, you will be delivering actionable insights across BBC World Service, helping journalists, product managers, marketers and business development teams better understand their audiences and make data-driven decisions. As part of this you will be making use of digital analytics data and support on a range of research projects, both quantitative and qualitative, digital and non-digital.

From a digital perspective, you will be involved with establishing appropriate KPIs to monitor performance or digital activities, setting up and maintaining dashboards as a means of disseminating data regularly and efficiently, conducting ad-hoc digital deep dives into web analytics data to understand current performance and future opportunities for developing our digital experience as well as being the main point of contact for web and social analytics support.

More broadly, the role offers opportunities to get involved with projects that are not only digital – working with the wider Audiences team within the World Service, operating as part of project teams to deepen our understanding of our existing and prospective audiences across all platforms; web, social, radio and TV.

Are you the right candidate?

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of having used web analytics packages such as comScore DAx, Adobe Analytics, AT Internet and/or Google Analytics
  • Experience with social analytics tools/sources such as Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, YouTube Analytics, Socialbakers and/or Crowdtangle
  • Demonstrable experience of combining and interpreting data from different sources to form a clear and cohesive understanding of audiences
  • Ability to analyse large sample (1000+) datasets and convert data into practical insights
  • Demonstrable experience of having played active role in qualitative and quantitative research projects, ideally in international markets

This role is BBC Band B.
