Senior Research & Insight Officer
About the role
Our research and insight team plays a crucial role in supporting teams across NHS Digital to understand our audiences and design services or communications to effectively meet their needs. This is a growing team whose services are in demand, so we are offering a 12 month fixed term contract with potential to extend.
We need people who are willing to be flexible, keen to take on new challenges and want to help embed good research practice across our organisation. We’ll look to you to help our service teams define their objectives, design and implement a research solution and identify actionable insights that will have a positive impact for our users and wider audiences. You’ll also support the strategic work of the insight team, including tracking NHS Digital’s reputation, conducting ad hoc research projects to support its organisational objectives and informing its communication and engagement approach.
With established skills across a range of research methodologies you will provide advice and consultancy to our teams as well as applying your technical expertise to facilitate use of our corporate survey software and coordinate activity across the organisation.
This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving team that works in close collaboration with colleagues from across the communications directorate, our service teams, executive managers and the wider health and care system. We’ll look to you to coordinate and deliver different projects, working as part of a team and supporting research and insight activity to inform how NHS Digital delivers information and technology to health and care.
You’ll come to us with a specialised knowledge of research and insight, grounded in theory and practical experience. You will be able to demonstrate excellent critical thinking, attention to detail and a talent for effectively supporting others to get meaningful data from their research projects. Specific experience in design of quantitative survey tools and analysis would be particularly advantageous, though qualitative knowledge or experience is also desirable.
You will be keen to embrace new challenges and opportunities and ready to take the lead managing some of our core research strands with minimal senior support.
Please note that NHS Digital’s headquarters is based in Leeds. If you choose to take up this role in London or other hub offices you should be prepared to travel for work purposes as necessary (approx. one day a week in Leeds with travel facilitated by NHS Digital).
