The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is undergoing rapid business growth to meet the demands of changing markets and the UK’s departure from the EU. This is presenting exciting opportunities, including the Head of Market Research post within our Statistics and Market Research Team. 

The Statistics and Market Research Team provides support to case teams investigating and enforcing competition and consumer law, by commissioning, designing and analysing research, generally in the form of statistical surveys and sometimes qualitative research. We also evaluate market research evidence submitted by interested stakeholders in cases, as well as providing other types of market research and statistics. Your work will make a positive impact in protecting the interests of consumers and the wider UK economy.

Together with the Head of Statistics, you will lead a growing team (currently 6 posts) of Market Researchers and Statisticians. You will lead a portfolio of research projects, allocate projects to team members to cases and provide professional leadership to develop staff. You will have direct line management responsibility for at least two members of staff.

As Head of Market Research, you will be expected to keep abreast of developments in market research and promote market research capability within the CMA through knowledge sharing and training activities and the development of new approaches.

To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate examples of managing market research, in a public sector, private sector or an academic environment. You will offer extensive practical quantitative and qualitative experience, underpinned by at least 2:1 undergraduate degree (ideally postgraduate degree) in a statistics, research methods, behavioural science, economics, or a related discipline.
